We strongly condemn the genocide
It was learnt that genocidal acts were committed in West Wollega Zone Bone Kebele in March 31, 2021. Balderas for True Democracy strongly condemn the genocide which has been taken as a normal social practice during the Abiy’s Administration. We are deeply saddened by the news and may God give the victims eternal rest.
The genocide that has been committed upon our citizens has been increasing in the past three years and the genocide committed during Abiy’s administration has been exceptional in its brutality, with which the Sect of Oromo Liberation Front set out to destroy the Amhara farmers in various parts of the Country, in Oromia Regional States, in Benishangul Gumz, Northern Shoa, Guraferda(in the Southern Regional State) and the like.
Needless to mention, the fundamental duty of any government is to protect its citizens against imminent danger. That is, any government has the legal and moral obligation to protect and promote citizens’ rights; however, disgracefully, the ‘Government of Ethiopia’ has intentionally denied the Amhara farmers access to adequate security protection. The government of Abiy has never been dedicated to preventing genocide, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanities for the last three years and we repeatedly recall the shameful failure of the ‘Government’ to prevent citizens from genocidal acts.
Now, it is clearly learnt that the widespread or systematic genocide scheme done on Amhara farmers has been committed, with knowledge of the government. Confronted with the extensive perpetration of unspeakable atrocities and genocide after Abiy came to power, Balderas for True Democracy has articulated an unparalleled call for justice for those who become voiceless citizens of Ethiopia. In response, the ‘Government of Ethiopia’ seems to take joint action with the Sect of Oromo Liberation Front and create havoc on the people of Ethiopia. It is clear beyond reasonable doubt that the notion of crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing and genocide has evolved under the intent of the government.
Balderas for True Democracy, in addition to the political struggle we have gone through, has been making a commitment to bring perpetrators of these crimes to justice in collaboration with national and international human right advocacy groups.
